Improved TwimGo – Alpha 3

Time flies. It’s already a week from last alpha 2 release of TwimGo. During the last week I’ve been crafting few improvements to my Qt Web Runtime based Twitter client.

This version includes few of the most requested features:

  • Auto-refresh
  • Search
  • Lists
  • TwitPic and yFrog thumbnail preview

I could easily notice the advantages of the Qt WRT platform as new features were really easy to implement in plain HTML, JavaScript and CSS. Talking about the JavaScript I spotted this Tweet from my timeline which is so true:

learning Javascript used to mean you weren’t a “serious software developer”. today, not learning Javascript means the same thing. – @monkchips

I also recorded a small video of the current features in TwimGo:

You can download the app from the new app site that I just created :)

Again, remember that current Qt WRT can’t update existing installation so uninstall the previous version of TwimGo first.

I hope you like it! Leave feature ideas, bug reports etc. on the comments or on the getsatisfaction.com/twimgo page.

    Hey,

New TwimGo is great, few more ideas for a future release.

    1) Unread tweet tiles show as a different colour
    2) Ability to post a pic from the app via twitpic etc
    3) Full screen mode
    4) Some Options, ability to change refresh interval, tile colours etc

And again, I know its nothing you can do about at the moment but we really need to sort the QT bug issue, any ideas when the new release will be ?

Keep up he amazing work, not since Gravity has there been a more promising Twitter client.

    Cheers

Good ideas. Unfortunately I don’t know when Nokia will release a fixed version of the Qt Web Runtime. I know that it is really ANNOYING (spot the sarcasm).

I will add the TwitPic, etc. service upload when Qt Web Runtime documentation gets better. Right now I don’t have that good visibility to File or Camera API.

I’ve never used the Gravity but screenshots and videos really look amazing.

Fast and furious. i loike. A lot better than Twim in Symbian. Hence this gonna be my choice for twitter. Just want to inform that overwhelming text in Japanese is not fix yet (I found it in Public page). Thank you.

tried khweeteur for a couple of days but now I’m going to drop it. Twingo simply is better. Twimgo as a reference could you, please make a proper RSS reading application for N900, with auto scroll?

This situation could be improved:1 – I open TwimGo and its downloaded my tweets2 – A few minutes later, TwimGo refreshed my tweets.3 – Before I read those new tweets, TwimGo has refreshed again. That´s ok! But why when I scroll down to read the tweets from the step 2, I still have to push “more” button, since TwimGo has already downloaded them? You are doing a great job, but I strongly recommend you take at look at Gravity, since it is the best refference we have in twitter for mobile phones.

Thanks for the feedback. I agree that I could improve the refresh functionality in TwimGo. I’ll have to see what could be a good buffer limit for the tweet count so that it wouldn’t slow down the view if old tweets would be left on the tweet list.

Another issue that I´ve identified is that sometimes when I scroll down, TwimGo keeps showing always the same tweets.

Even when I press the “more” button, TwimGo shows me the same tweets that are right above.

And also it would be nice if we could set up the frequence of the auto refresh feature. Just to sabe baterry, okay?

This still happens for me. Even in the new version (2.0.8)

awesome app, but one thing i would really like: https://twitter.com instead of http:// . this would diminish any bad feelings when using a public wifi like starbucks etc.

    Love ya app so far….

I won’t mention the CAPS lock issue, ya know already…

But I am looking forward to your coming desktop widget for TwimGo, may I make some suggestions/requests please?

The old Twitter Widget made by Nokia was simple but so elegant…..allowed tweeting right from the desktop, loved it….but was far too buggy so they pulled it

Be great if your widget did something simular…..
    - Last 3 or 5 tweets (clicking on opens your app)
    - A button to tweet right from the desktop
    - Status counts (RT, DM)

Otherwise, keep up the great work
