We have just released v1.6 of Mobile Trail Explorer. This release doesn’t have huge amount of new features but contains many small fixes and improvements.

I’m happy to announce the release of Mobile Trail Explorer v1.4. New version includes the following changes and fixes:

Improved GPX support, now compatible with OpenStreetMap.org
Small compass in main view
Traveled distance in main view
View can be panned using arrow keys

I must have done something right about the Mobile Trail Explorer software as it seems that someone is really using it. Latest version have already been downloaded 856 times in less then a month according to the Google Code’s file list and this doesn’t even include direct over-the-air or plain JAR and JAD file [...]

There have been some progress with the Mobile Trail Explorer project. The newest version contains some improvements and new features like displaying speed, heading and altitude information on the main screen. New release is also capable of exporting trails in GPX format.

One user just asked for a feature to a Car Manager application so that he could export the entries from the application. I wasn’t sure that MIDP 1.0 would allow this but it turned out to be a very simple to integrate the export functionality to the application using the File Connection API (JSR 75) [...]

I have added few new features in the Mobile Trail Explorer:

Ability to change recording interval
Optimized recording so that recording is paused when user is stopped
Waypoints are stored when application is closed
