I case you are bringing your tablet to the MeeGo Summit FI tomorrow you can try running the binary I just compiled for WeTab from the original QML Timetable app. It’s just the executable and QML files so you’ll need to launch that from the terminal.
One of the most important uses for my tablet is to read news with it. The default browser works pretty well for that purpose but I tweaked my NewsFlow app’s user interface a bit so that it’s more pleasant to use with a tablet’s larger screen and even surpasses the web pages in some ways.
Now it shows the main menu on the left and news items list next to it. Right side of the screen is preserved for the news item content. All three containers are vertically scrollable.
Here is a small teaser of NewsFlow running on WeTab MeeGo tablet:
Got my hands on a first MeeGo tablet, WeTab, and I couldn’t be happier :) The tablet itself is really solid and latest WeTab OS 2.0 (based on MeeGo) is stable and working very well. Even the WeTab’s dashboard view turns out to be working better then expected.
Last but not least surprise was that I could run my Qt Quick apps on the Tablet without any code changes(!) So the same TwimGo that works on Maemo and Symbian^3 devices works also nicely on the WeTab.
Next I will learn how to package the apps as RPM so that I can distribute them nicely also for other WeTab and MeeGo tablet users.
